Have you already seen the teaser for the upcoming documentary about Dutch born and Curaçao based artist Geerdine Kuijpers? We made it in 2016 and this year we officially started with the production.
Kuijpers was born in Rotterdam (the Netherlands) and immigrated to Curaçao in the 50’s. She has since then worked and lived as an artist and created a very special collection – a true art paradise came to exist! During the, now more than 50, years Kuijpers has been living on Curaçao she even built her own gallery within the “walls” of the Art & Nature Inn, in Julianadorp. ‘The Art & Nature Inn’ forms a big part of her body of work and thus her life philosophy. It’s a fully equipped apartment complex with more than 10 completely ecological apartments that are artworks on their own – each space is decorated and painted on the inside and outside by Kuijpers herself and are full of mosaic and paintings, framed by a beautiful garden where you can feel the spiritual energy. The Gallery and Art & Nature Inn are described by Kuijpers’ son, Eugene, as “a true museum on itself”. For more information on the Gallery and Art & Nature Inn, you can visit their Facebook page by clicking here.
During the documentary we converse with Kuijpers on her life, work and more. We follow her through her garden and go on location, where she connects with nature. The documentary is filmed and directed by Sharelly Emanuelson. During the documentary we follow and converse with Kuijpers about her now more than fifty years living and working Curaçao.
Stay tuned for more information on the development of the documentary!
